The Sound We See

The Sound We See A celluloid portrait of the amazing county of Somerset, created by Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles, in association with Somerset Film . A 24-minute film, part of the growing ‘slow film’ movement,  in which each minute shows an hour in the life of Somerset and its people.
The Sound We See is an international series of 24-minute films. It is based on the ‘City Symphonies’, avant-garde black and white silent motion pictures from the 1920s that captured the spirit and uniqueness of a place by assembling images of everyday life there. Somerset is taking its place as a new ‘City Symphony’ alongside Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Guwahati, and Hanoi.
Actiontrack Performance Company, in association with Sound Foundation Somerset, has worked with local young singers and musicians to create and perform a music score.

BackgroundEcho Park Film Center is one of Somerset Film’s partner organisations. They’re based in Echo Park, a multi-cultural neighbourhood just off Sunset Boulevard between downtown LA and Hollywood. Like Somerset Film, they’re focused on providing equal and affordable community access to film and digital media.
