Jiva Housden and George Tarlton

The Jiva Housden and George Tarlton guitar duo are scholarship students who formed in 2012 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and are studying with Robert Brightmore and David Miller. George is from Streatham in South London. He comes from a family of musicians; his mother is an opera singer and father a bassoonist. He sang as a boy with the Norbury based choir “Libera” and had some guitar lessons in primary school. Later on the guitar became an all-consuming passion which led him to perform in many settings from orchestral works, chamber works and solo concerts. His playing has inspired composers to write for him including a guitar concerto planned for May 2014. Inspired by Mark Eden’s passion for guitar ensemble whilst studying with him at Junior Guildhall, Jiva went on to collaborate with many musicians and perform in places such as the London Music Festival, Illuminating Britten Festival. They are enjoying the challenge of playing and arranging a variety of music for two guitars and have undertaken the Concertino for guitar duo and string quintet by the late Stephen Dodgson and have been invited to perform in a tribute concert for Stephen organised by Jane Dodgson. They also have the support and guidance of the internationally successful Eden Stell guitar duo.
